An Attic Insulation Company That Shows You The Attic First

Kanata Attic Insulation adds to, seals and replaces attic insulation for houses in Kanata, Stittsville and the farm roads beyond. All of our attic work is fully insured. Our whole trade lives above the top-floor ceiling, and our whole service area sits in Ottawa's west end.

We built the company around one idea. Before you pay for any attic work, you should see what is up there. Every visit includes photos of the insulation, the vents and the hatch, and those photos travel with the written quote.

About Kanata Attic Insulation

Photos Make The Quote Easy To Check

"Add insulation" on a quote explains almost nothing. Ours pairs a picture of the thin bay with the ruler reading and the R-value it equals, then states the goal: material, inches, R-value and area. Sealing, eave chutes and the hatch are priced as separate lines.

That makes our price simple to compare with any other quote. If something changes once we are in the attic, such as a hidden roof leak, we stop, photograph it and explain it before going further.

The Order Of The Work Matters

Attic work done well always happens in the same sequence. Holes get sealed while they are still visible. Chutes go into the eave bays to protect the soffit intake. Only then does the hose come up, and depth markers show when the layer has reached its goal.

Skipping the sealing or the baffles is how an attic ends up with frost on the roof boards or wet insulation at the eaves. We do not skip them.

Kanata Houses Have Their Own Patterns

Kanata grew in waves, and each wave left a different kind of attic. The 1960s and 1970s houses in Beaverbrook and Glen Cairn usually have thin, settled insulation and lots of small leaks. Homes in Katimavik-Hazeldean and Marchwood often have more depth but tired vents and a bare hatch. The two-story houses in Bridlewood, Morgan's Grant and Kanata Lakes often have a cold room over the garage.

Knowing those patterns makes the attic check faster and the quote more accurate.

Clean Work In Your Home

Drop cloths trace the path from your entry to the hatch, and the closet or hall beneath it is wrapped in plastic. The hose feeds from the machine parked outside. At the end we vacuum up, take a second set of pictures and show you the finished depth on the markers.

The Attic Work We Do

Each of these services starts with the same free attic check and the same photos.

Blown-In Fiberglass Insulation

Blown-in fiberglass insulation is loose glass fibre blown through a hose into the attic, where it builds a light, even layer over the ceiling. It does not absorb water and it does not settle much, which makes it a steady choice for an attic that will be left alone for decades.

Attic Insulation Replacement

Attic insulation replacement is a clear-out and a refill: the old layer is vacuumed away, the attic is cleaned, and new loose fill goes in to R-60. It is the answer when the existing material is soaked, mouldy, fouled by animals or crushed flat.

Attic Air Sealing

Attic air sealing plugs the holes in your top-floor ceiling where heated indoor air sneaks up under the roof. Loose fill slows heat soaking through drywall, yet air pours through an open hole as if the fill were not there.

Attic Ventilation And Baffles

Attic ventilation lets outside air enter at the soffits and leave near the peak, which keeps the attic close to the outdoor temperature and carries moisture away. A cold, dry attic means snow melts less from below, the roof boards stay sound and the insulation stays dry.

Bonus Room Insulation

Bonus room insulation fixes the room that sits over an attached garage and never feels like the rest of the house. That room has a cold garage under its floor, short knee walls with attic space behind them and a sloped ceiling under the roof.
